WARNING: New Wii Update 3.4 is out |
|
Nov 17, 2008 - 8:51 PM - by syst3merror
|
I have found on many different websites reports of a fw update of 3.4 and everyone updated has reported that homebrew is gone and all hacks are disabled (backup launchers, custom channels, etc)
Keep an eye out and until more info surfaces, DO NOT UPDATE!!!
Quote:
Notice: At this time, WiiBrew recommends that you do not update your Wii through Nintendo, as it disables some homebrew (DVDx, PatchMii). Recent reports suggest System Menu 3.4 removes all custom channels.
Instead, you should use the Wii Shop and IOS51 installer to update and prevent anything from being disabled.
Update appears to include IOS50 (used by menu) and IOS254 (a copy of IOS9, to block PatchMii).
================================================== ======================================
North America
Wii Menu version 3.4 is now available for your Wii console. To update your Wii Menu to the latest version, please select the Update button at the bottom of the screen or select the System Update option in Wii System Settings.
With this update, Parental Controls have been enhanced, USB keyboard support is available for the Mii Channel, and system functions have been improved.
The Wii User Agreement, which includes the Wii Privacy Policy, has been updated. Because the updated agreement applies to you and your use of the Wii Network Service, you should view the updated version by clicking on the Wii icon located on the lower-left portion of the Wii Channel menu, selecting Wii Settings, accessing the Internet setting, and selecting User Agreements.
You may also view the updated Wii User Agreement online at | ... [Read More]

Get Newest Wii Update IOS51 without the Disadvantages of the Latest Wii Update |

Wii Shop and IOS51 installer is a very quick modification of PatchMii modified by Muzer that does one thing: It installs the new IOS51 and Wii Shop Channel, without installing the patches to all the other IOSes. This means that as long as you didn't update, you can now install this to use the Wii Shop Channel but keep all the benefits of not having the update.
Anybody at all could have made this, just everyone is too busy at the moment, so I figured I would make it. It's literally modifying 4 lines of code and commenting out a bunch of stuff. Source code is now available for both Muzer and tona's builds.
This does not have the same effects as updating, so you get the best of both worlds.
You can do this on any system menu version and it will work fine, keeping the system menu version you have.
I made the program as two separate DOL files, because it's easier and quicker for me that way, if this lasts a while I'll make a version that combines the two files. The current build by tona is combined into a single DOL.
NOTE: TAKE OUT ANY GAMECUBE MEMORY CARDS/CONTROLLERS AND USB DEVICES BEFORE INSTALLING ANYTHING. The first time one person installed the ... [Read More]

Wiikey does it again!!! with the wiikey2. five or six wire mod |
|

The Infamous Wiikey Team is the first again ...
The first 5 to 6 wiremod for all wii versions instead of the 5 to 9 wire

[2008.11.01] Wiikey 2 can now been installed with 6 wires
After a thorough testing phase, we are pleased to confirm that Wiikey 2 can now be installed with just 6 wires on D2C, D2C-2 and D2E. This applies to all Wiikey 2 chips with a yellow serial number sticker on the back. Chips with a white serial number sticker should be installed using 9 wires. The installation guide in the resources section has been updated to reflect this.
Please note that there are no other differences between the white-sticker and yellow-sticker chips. Both are Wiikey v2.0. Only the wire-count has been changed for the chips with the yellow sticker. DMS, D2B and D2B should still be installed with 5 wires.
